Session Zero - 14 February 2022

Opening Scene

Having emerged from the upside down spire the party discovered a message carried by two assassinated couriers.

Dearest Ben, I know you and I have not seen things the same way for some time. I have left your mother as our goals no longer aligned and have moved from our home in Targos to join some friends of mine in the citadel at Caer-Dineval . I ask that you visit me here and I can answer many of the questions that no doubt plague you. Your father, Eamon

Caer-Konig

The adventurers decides to proceed to Caer-Dineval by way of Caer-Konig

In the small town of Caer-Konig, known for its tight-knit community and usually honest inhabitants, a group of adventurers found themselves in a rather interesting predicament. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk, these adventurers were not as honorable as they seemed. On this particular day, they decided to take advantage of a situation involving the inebriated sheriff, Trovus, and exploit it to their advantage.

Trovus, known for his strict adherence to the law and his upstanding reputation, had indulged a bit too much in alcohol. Sensing an opportunity, the cunning adventurers cleverly manipulated the impaired sheriff, successfully swindling him out of a staggering amount of 1,050 GP. It was a hefty sum, one that would make even the most audacious of thieves blush.

To add insult to injury, the adventurers had not even completed the task for which a reward of 600 GP was offered - the elimination of the invisible dwarven thieves. Yet, they shamelessly claimed the reward as their own. But they didn't stop there. In a move that can only be described as outrageous, they insisted that Trovus still owed them!

In an unexpected turn of events, Trovus, despite his heavily intoxicated state, managed to gather some semblance of clarity. He saw through their deceitful ploy and firmly asserted that he did not owe them the exorbitant sum of 1,500 GP that they brazenly demanded. Perhaps it was a glimmer of his innate sense of justice that cut through the fog of intoxication.

It was a moment that highlighted the true character of the adventurers, revealing their cunning and opportunistic nature. It left the townsfolk of Caer-Konig questioning their previous perceptions of these supposedly trustworthy individuals. And as the story spread throughout the town, whispers of the adventurers' audacious exploits echoed through the streets, forever altering their reputation in the eyes of the townspeople.

A Familiar Face

The taunting face of Gygas Greenhood greets them as they set out on the road to Caer-Dineval. He delivers an ultimatum from his master The Ebonheart and the Midnight Kiss

<aside> 💡 Rest assured, this blizzard is temporary and will not last forever. Once the pass is open, you, your friends, and all your beloved family members will have the opportunity to join us. We are actively working on devising an alternative approach to compel you to come with us. However, if you choose to disagree, be aware that the consequences will be dire. We will not hesitate to eliminate every single person you hold dear in Bryn Shandar. The honour of Delores Gorson will be avenged, and her husband is determined to have Vlad brought back, whether in life or death. Time is of the essence. If you fail to appear at the designated inn within the next couple of days, the merciless killings will commence.
